The Australian Government’s new Statement on Space, released today by the Australian Space Agency and presented by Senator the Hon Tim Ayres at the 19th Australian Space Forum, sets out a vision AROSE strongly welcomes.
The Statement identifies Exploration Technologies, defined as remote operations and lunar applications, as one of five national focus areas, recognising that the Australian industry “already operates complex systems in harsh and remote terrestrial settings” and that these capabilities are directly relevant to enduring lunar surface operations.
It also commits to realising benefits beyond space by translating space activity into adjacent sectors and broader economic benefit.
This two-way translation, from mining and resources remote operations into space missions, and from space back to Earth, has been the founding thesis of AROSE since 2020. Our consortium exists to connect terrestrial remote operations expertise with the global space economy, and to bring space-derived capability back into the sectors that underpin Australia’s prosperity.
